FrancestownCARES Act funds boost services

The Francestown Select Board approved a deep cleaning of the G.H. Bixby Memorial Library and a new computer for the Fire Department at their meeting on Monday, two more expenses they're applying for reimbursement under the CARES act, which provides relief funds for costs associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. The deep cleaning is to give the public confidence before services resume, Library Director Laura Abrahamsen said. She additionally requested upping the regular cleaning schedule to a weekly basis from once every two or three weeks once the library opened.

The library cleaning will cost $2,250. Other items submitted to CARES act funding so far has been a total of $1,650.95. This is for various PPE for Fire, Police and Admin, a few tech items such as a conference microphone, two ZOOM licenses, a sanitizing gun used for Fire & PD and additional payroll and taxes for the Police Department, Town Administrator Jamie Pike said.
